EcoVadis is an international independent agency that assesses organizations on their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the field of the environment, good working conditions, sustainable procurement and fair business (ecovadis.com).
Food may only be called organic if the production process in the entire chain complies with legal requirements. The core of these regulations is that organic production and the indications on the product must meet certain requirements that are supervised. In the Netherlands, this supervision is carried out by Skal. What matters is that, what is called “organic” actually is. As a visible sign, Go-Tan carries the organic quality mark on products that come from a controlled organic production process. You can recognize the organic label by the green logo in the shape of a leaf.
The BRC standard describes the hygiene and food safety requirements for food processing companies. The standard was developed in 1998 by English retailers: BRC stands for British Retail Consortium. If you are BRC certified, this means that your products are (food) safe, legal and of high quality. The standard includes a comprehensive checklist containing all quality assurance requirements, including the food safety culture within the company. Go-Tan is BRC certified at level A.
